RN - OB/Nursery | Registered Nurse Part-Time

General Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers direct patient care by applying the nursing process with clinical expertise relevant to obstetrics and nursery nursing. The role requires adherence to the ANA Code of Ethics and hospital policies to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to maintain a safe care environment.
• Manage and care for central lines and prevent surgical site infections following policy guidelines.
• Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide education to patients and families to support health outcomes.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance quality, and communicate findings to the healthcare team.
• Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring data to support clinical decisions and compliance.
• Effectively communicate patient information to physicians and team members to improve care coordination.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Engage with patients and families promptly to enhance their experience and provide necessary education.
• Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing school is required.

Experience

At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.

Certification and Licensure

• Current RN license valid in the state or Compact Licensure.
• Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role demands considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
